I’m from a place I love very much
where the
food tastes great the streets are full of
leaves and soda cans and potato chip bags
I live in a place where I have only heard
one gunshot fired
I’m from where my school is next to
a laundromat
I’m from a place where one word
can’t describe it

I come from a place far from here October 17, 2007

I come from a place far from here.
A place where you could hear a baby cry
A place where you could hear the bullets
getting loosed.
A place where you get hit and runs.
A place where you can’t relax.
But soon people will relax.
A place where parents get scared to let
their kids out to play.
I come from a place far from here where
things go bad but still good.

I’m from Chicago
Reminds me of
Jalisco from
The rain and
Dirt combined

From tacos
That smell
Like tripitas

And feeling
Safe around
My family
And friends

From every
Day bedding,
From under
A roof
